2010 Inaugural International Naturally Autistic People Awards

Naturally Autistic® ANCA® announces its Inaugural International Naturally Autistic® People Awards
UBC Robson Square Theatre, Vancouver B.C., October 30, 2010 – Our Naturally Autistic® People AWARDS have been created to honour the accomplishments of autistic individuals, their supporters and organizations that support autistic people. Our inaugural event will showcase entries from three countries – Canada, U.S.A and Australia.
The selected Award Recipients and the selected Art Submissions will be showcased at UBC Robson Square Theatre on October 30, 2010. They will also be showcased in the Winter Issue of Naturally Autistic® Magazine.
Our International Awards event was created to help celebrate the accomplishments, talents and abilities of autistic people throughout the world. We encourage members of autistic communities everywhere to participate in this event. The general public is invited to attend and experience an understanding of autism and autistic people not often found in the general media.
Two of our entries this year are singer Scott Siegel, www.arrestmysister.com and artist Joel Anderson, www.joelsvisionarts.com. The news is spreading – Autistic People are integral contributing members of society.
For the past 15 years, Naturally Autistic® ANCA® has held its annual presentation event for Naturally Autistic® ANCA® families and the local community. Through various venues such as shadow puppet theatre; musical performances; public speaking; and a wide range of performance art, the event showcases the accomplishments of autistic children, teen and young adults. The local community gets to see firsthand the groups’ continuing development and has opportunity to experience what autistic people ‘can do’ when supported naturally – Naturally Autistic®.
2010 marks our first year of opening our event to the autistic community – Internationally.
